Beloit woman dies in ATV accident

TOWN OF TURTLE - A 46-year-old Beloit woman has died from injuries sustained Thursday while operating an all terrain vehicle in the Town of Turtle.

The woman, who has yet to be identified, was traveling south in the grassy shoulder of South Butterfly Road south of East County Road S at about 11:23 p.m. when she struck a utility power pole and was thrown from the ATV, according to a news release from the Rock County Sheriff's Office.

Fire and EMS personnel from the Town of Turtle and City of Beloit as well as MD-1 responded to the crash.

According to the sheriff's office, the woman was not wearing a helmet and suffered serious injuries.

The Rock County Medical Examiner's Office and a conservation warden from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources responded to assist with the investigation.
