'Veterans' health and Sen. Baldwin'

Print Article

How much is good customer service worth? Lengthy time on hold, weeks of non-responsiveness, rude or unhelpful customer service representatives are enough to frustrate anyone.

When it comes to Wisconsin politicians and their constituents, customer service can play a key factor in voter decisions. The failure of customer service is seen in the 2014 Tomah VA scandal surrounding Senator Tammy Baldwin. While shared appreciation usually exists between Democrats and Republicans regarding the veterans who have secured freedom, Baldwin would like Wisconsin voters to move on and forget the black spot on her record towards veterans.

In Tomah, the people on the front line were not at the "front of the line" of Baldwin's customer service.

Following the scandal, Baldwin's efforts to make changes hardly seem to indicate a change of heart. Instead, according to whistleblower Ryan Honl, Baldwin has been "playing political damage control instead of focusing on fixing the issues at Tomah." While pushing bills, including one in the victim's name, she still fails to accept her own failure and assume the responsibility for sheer negligence.

With last month's Marquette poll showing the race between Baldwin and State Senator Leah Vukmir nearly tied, Baldwin's glaring history should be of concern to voters: the Tomah drug scandal revealed her disorganized and apathetic approach to customer service Baldwin had toward veterans in particular. This fall, Wisconsin must remind Senator Baldwin that good customer service is worth the lives and health of our veterans.
