On Sunday, August 12, Mead-Allen VFW Post 2306 held their 71st Annual Corn Boil at the Post home, 2711 Afton Road. While it was an uncomfortably hot day, the officers, members and volunteers would like to thank everyone who came out to support local veterans while enjoying free sweet corn, donated by Seneca Foods.
Kwik Trip, Blackhawk Propane, Piggly Wiggly, Home Depot, the Young Marines, Best Events and Pinnon Foods all deserve thanks as major sponsors of our event. The raffles this year, by all accounts, were the best we've offered. None of this would have been possible without the support of the Beloit community and area businesses who donated various items and baskets for the raffle. Our Post is a non-profit organization, supporting area veterans, and these donations go a long way towards providing support services for our veterans.
That said, allow me to list those area businesses that helped make this year's event so successful. In no particular order, but with Post 2306's sincere gratitude, please support these businesses who support area veterans: The Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, Beloit Club, Glen Erin Golf Club, Jack and Dick's Feed, Edward Jones, Dunkin Donuts, Knute's Bar and Grill, Last Lap, Skip's Friendly Village, Beloit Hospital Lab Employees, Beloit Snappers, Miller Brewing, Coors Light, Franks Liquors, Iron Works Hotel, The Club, Bel-Ray, Dominicks Bar, The Rock Bar and Grill, Family Video, Frito-Lay, Phillips Beverage, Poor Richard's Farm, Christina Williams, Sam's Club of Janesville, Wisconsin Distribution, Rocky Cavallo, Denice King, Kim Ann, Sandy and Denny Olson, Duane Drye, Kerry Ingredients, Beloit Floral, Tobacco Shack, Hair and Nails (Sharon Olds), Lisa Isaacson, DJ Rich, B.A.C.A., Thirty One Consultants (Diane Hughes), Penny Henthorn, Mini-Ha-Ha Campground, A+ PowerSports, and Elkhorn Polaris.
It's your support that continues the tradition of supporting area vets, and we will continue our mission to support all veterans, past, present and future.
